The world recently lost Larry Florence at the young age of 49. Larry is well known as a star basketball player, reaching legendary status at Central High School in Phenix City and at the University of Nebraska, before spending multiple years around the globe as a professional basketball player.
While he was a legend on the basketball court, he was an even better father, son, classmate and teammate. Larry didn't let his stardom change who he was, as he stayed the same humble, loving, friendly, respectful man. To go along with his basketball prowess, Larry had a larger than life personality that drew everyone that met him to love him.
Larry loved his family and daughter more than anything in the world and would do anything in the world for them. He was a very loyal friend and participated in many events with his CHS c/o '95 classmates, all of which he established lifelong friendships. Although he was the star player on the teams he played for, he was also the perfect teammate. He used his talent to inspire family, friends, and fans alike. After his career, he continued to inspire kids and teenagers through coaching and conducting his Larry Florence Basketball Camps.
Even through his long battle with multiple myeloma cancer, he was able to touch everyone with his fighting mentality and his love for life. Although he is no longer on this earthly world, we all know he is in a better place. Larry's legacy continues to live on through the lives he has touched around thew world. He truly had THE HEART OF A HERO.
